THE TRADITIONAL DISH
'Milk rice' or 'Kiribath' is the Sri Lanka's traditional dish which can be seen at every occasion of celebration.
Sri Lankans prepare this delicious dish as a mark of prosperity and good luck at all important occasions.
People make milk rice as the first meal of the New Year which the family sits together and share .
Some people prepare milk rice on the 1st of every month , on birthdays , for house warming ceremonies and weddings .
Even the farmers consider this traditional dish as something sacred .
In their harvesting ceremonies they offer kiribath to God .
It is easy to make milk rice .
You have only to boil the rice well and add coconut milk with salt and mix it well .
Thereafter it is flattened on a dish and cut into diamond shaped piece .
kiribath is generally served with '' Lunumiris '' the sambol made out of onions , chilies , salt and lime .
